2009 New York Auto Show: Honda

The Honda Element has gone to the dogs.

At the 2009 New York Auto Show, Honda showed off an Element concept that was billed as "dog-friendly." A final version of this pooch-hauler is due this fall.

Honda Element Dog Friendly Concept

So how does Honda cater to the canine contingent? How about a cushioned dog bed in the cargo area? Or a ramp for loading and unloading dogs? Or a rear-ventilation fan? Or pet restraints and a water bowl? Well, those features and others are what make the Element dog-friendly. Otherwise, the Element remains unchanged.

The Examiner's Take

There are a lot of SUV owners out there that haul their pooches around, and Honda could carve out a nice niche in the market by making the Element a little more comforting to canines. If Honda unleashes (OK, I'll stop with the dog puns) this model on the market, it just be barking up the right tree (sorry, I had to get one last one in).
