Toyota's third-generation Prius, with its 48 miles to the gallon on city streets and 51 on a highway, drew admiring stares from New Yorkers who just know gas won't stay cheap forever.
"It's a hybrid so it'll save you a buck, which is always a good thing," said Ed Roberti, 65, of Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, who is looking to replace his old Saturn. "I like the styling. It's a really great looking car," Roberti said.
The hybrid showcased Wednesday isn't available to the public yet, but the current Prius model sells from $22,000 to $30,000.
On the other end of the spectrum was the Lamborghini Murcielago. If you can drop $382,400 on a sports car, chances are you don't care if it goes through gas like a frat boy guzzles beer.
The car is built to draw stares, but at just 8 miles per gallon for city driving and 13 on the highway, it'll be stopping at the pump frequently.
